At DCU, we are committed to enabling talented young men and women to excel in both academic and sporting fields, and to making a positive impact on the future of Irish sport.
Driven by a highly skilled team, the DCU Bank of Ireland Sports Academy promotes, supports and coaches students participating in Gaelic games and athletics, and provides targeted resources to a large number of elite athletes.
The Academy has built a reputation as a national centre of sporting excellence. Since 2006, it has supported some of Ireland’s best-known sporting heroes including Fionnuala McCormack (née Britton), Rio 2016 Paralympian Greta Streimikyte and GAA inter-county players Lindsay Pete (Dublin), Michael Murphy (Donegal) and Dublin senior players including Stephen Cluxton, Jonny Cooper, Paul Flynn, Bernard Brogan, James McCarthy and Dean Rock.
Today, the Academy assists 210 athletes and with support from long-term partner Bank of Ireland, that number is expected to grow by a further 50% by 2020.
