Ballymore has today announced its sponsorship of Dublin City University’s Gaelic football teams for the 2021-22 season.
Ballymore is a property developer with vast and varied experience, acknowledged as pioneers of some of Europe’s largest regeneration projects. It is owned by Sean Mulryan.
DCU Dóchas Éireann is the largest third level Gaelic Games club in the country with 33 teams fielded across all codes and over 1400 members. They have ten men’s teams and seven ladies’ teams. The men’s team are the current holders of the Sigerson Cup, landing the title in 2020 with the competition hosted on DCU campuses. This is their fifth success in the competition over the last fifteen years. This success is mirrored on the ladies side. They recently won the Division One League title and look forward to hosting the O’Connor Cup in March spread over three days, including International Women’s Day.
This past semester brought success as DCU Dóchas Éireann landed the Division One and six Ladies Football titles and the 2nd year A Football title. They also have a further two finals to look forward to at Senior and Junior level.
DCU Dóchas Éireann GAA club provides a proven development pathway for young players from across the country. The successes of Dublin, Donegal and Mayo teams in recent years have featured many players who have been successful in DCU on a playing and academic front. While on the Ladies front the successes of Dublin and recently Meath have been backboned by a strong DCU contingent.
The sponsorship deal will enable DCU Dóchas Éireann to invest in nurturing talented young players, providing the university’s elite student athletes with cutting-edge supports that enable them to combine the highest standards of sporting performance and academic achievement.
