We were delighted to recently welcome two new members to the DCU Educational Trust team with well-known sporting personality, Jason Sherlock, joining us as Associate Director and local woman Tara Byrne joining us as Office Assistant.
In addition to his pursuits as a selector with Dublin’s All-Ireland-winning football team, Jason comes to the Trust with a background of over 15 years’ experience in Sales and Business Development roles in the corporate sector. Jason is no stranger to DCU, having graduated with an Executive MBA in 2014, and is passionate about the University’s mission to transform lives and society, in particular through DCU’s Access and sports programmes.
Speaking about his motivation to join the team, Jason explained:
“Sport has been a huge factor in my life and I have been very lucky to benefit from my involvement in sporting teams through the years. DCU is synonymous with sporting excellence and through the Trust’s fundraising work, I look forward to furthering DCU’s ambitions to support the development of some of Ireland’s leading athletes and to encourage participation in sport by all students.
“I also have huge passion for the opportunities which education can create in the lives of young people. Having not placed a huge value on education earlier in my life, returning to DCU to complete my MBA was a poignant part of my own journey, which helped me to see the doors which education can open in your career. I am very excited about the opportunity of assisting more young people to avail of the possibilities which higher education can offer through DCU’s Access Programme,” Jason continued.
Similarly, having been born and reared less than five minutes from DCU’s gates, Tara is excited to be part of the Educational Trust’s team that is working to provide opportunities for students from her local area and beyond to fulfil their potential in life.
